The foundation stepping class is structured training in posture, footwork, rhythm and expressive vocabulary — taught step by step, with attention and care.
Who this class is for?
• People aged 12+ who enjoy physical and mental challenge
• People curious about Indian classical arts
• Movers from yoga, Pilates, martial arts, music, dance or anyone who simply loves to move
• Beginners welcome — no prior dance experience required
What to expect
• Strong lower-body work and stamina building
• Clear foundational technique
• Rhythm, coordination and expressive detail
• Small group learning in a focused, supportive space
• Introductory theory and its application
Odissi is built through repetition and refinement. Foundations are revisited every week, allowing new students to begin at any time while experienced students deepen their technique.

Odissi dance has a varied repertoire that includes Mangalacharan (invocatory piece), Ashtapadis (dances performed to songs from the Gita Govinda), Pallavis, Abhinaya, Odia songs and Moksha.
The composition class focuses on the learning of dance items that are a part of the Odissi repertoire.
Who this class is for?
• People who join this class are required to regularly attend the foundation stepping class
• Optional deeper training for committed students
• Students who would like to perform the Odissi dance repertoire
What to expect
• In detail learning of dance composition pieces
• Odissi dance pieces, including pallavis, mangalacharan, Odia songs, and abhinaya expression pieces
• Detailed learning of taal (rhythm) and theoretical aspects of Odissi dance
