Discover the beauty, strength, and expressiveness of Odissi. Rooted in ancient temple culture yet alive in the present, Odissi blends sculpture-like poses, rhythm, and storytelling.
In this introductory workshop you will learn foundational elements of the style, including the grounded square stance Chauka and the graceful curved posture Tribhangi, along with basic steps and coordination of hands and feet.
We will then bring these movements together in a short dance sequence set to Ektali Taal.
The session concludes with an introduction to expressive storytelling (abhinaya), learning gestures from a traditional shiva shloka and dancing with music.
